Bio/Profile:A self-taught artist, M.Daigeaun hailing originally from the New Brunswick, New Jersey area is a member of a local movement to help revitalize the area's historic art past by bringing the art of today to the masses. Part street, part abstract expressionist, M.Daigeaun is all artist. Originally defined as an artist who preferred to specialize in charcoal and pastels on canvas, M.Daigeaun has vastly expanded his range to include other elements in order to become a true visual artist. His art began roughly five years ago with basic charcoal drawings eventually evolving from then to now. M.Daigeaun’s abstract work came about by accident but when his early works in this style were shown, reaction was so positive that this area became a substantial part of M.Daigeaun’s body of work. While to many some of his stylings scream of Jackson Pollock’s action paintings, look closely and you are bound to find differences along with the undeniable similarities. the influence of the Abstract Expressionists on M.Daigeaun’s work cannot be denied. In fact, it is gladly accepted and worn like a badge of honor as he is an artist helping to keep the style alive while pushing its boundaries to new heights. Artist Statement: Everyone at some point in their life has scribbled little doodles on paper. For me, my doodles have become my art leading to my life as an artist. With each changing day, I advance further into new artistic territory be it working with charcoals and pastels on canvas, craft acrylics on poster board, making photographic prints on watercolor paper or some other untypical combination I’m creating with. Artistically, I progress because my work’s variety continually seizes change pushing me to new heights. As these changes are captured, variations occur causing a chaos in the fluidity of style to achieve the outcome of beauty. In the end, I view art to be the only place where beauty and chaos co-exist in harmony. Each piece becomes a new experiment that I gleam with joy to undertake. The result is every work of art is different and, due to this, categorically, my style is hard to determine. Experimentation, such as mine, is what continues to push all art to create new boundaries and is the reason why I create the art I do. Producing something fresh and new people can experience as their own is what being the progressive artist I am is all about. Views on his work: M. views his work as a style that is spanning styles to create something he likes to call “Emotionalism”. To him, this term “Emotionalism” reflects the places mentally/emotionally at the moment each piece was conceived, which is partially always fed by music. While, each work has a deep attachment to the artist, M. feels that there is no real proper interpretation to them. The proper interpretation is what the viewer sees/gets from the piece. After all, 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.' Thanks: To All my family & Friends who have allowed me to grow as an artist (and for putting up with my occasional irritability). Also many thanks to Mosaic Magazine, Mason Gross School of the Arts Performing Arts Center and Albus Cavus Gallery for inspiring me to new creative heights. And the largest thanks goes to Professor Bellion for the American Art History class that ignited the fire.
